Both rabbits were meticulously built coil by coil to their finished height. They were colored with underglazes and finished in a matte clear protective glaze. The alert rabbit is richly colored to imply he stands in the sunshine, while the crouching rabbit is glazed in muted blues and browns to suggest she hides in the shadows.
Made from high firing cone 10 ceramics, making them suitable for lounging in the sun or shadows of your garden or home.

Artist Statement: I love wildlife, and I delight in making sculptures realistic enough to fool my cats. I’ve enjoyed positioning these two bunnies in my garden so that the natural light suggests there’s a nest being guarded. But here in Santa Fe, I find I have far too many actual bunnies in my garden, so I’m ready for Sunny & Shade to grace another space.
