This sculpted face was designed for hanging on a wall or tree, and was glazed with multiple colors of high fire glazes in a pattern inspired by African textiles.
Unique sculpture made from highfire cone 10 clay, so he is durable enough to hang anywhere, outside or inside.
Dimensions: 12” tall x 7” wide x 3” deep. Prewired for hanging.
Artist Statement: I was very inspired by our trip to Africa and patterned this African mask after the beautiful textiles and artworks I saw in Botswana. The serendipitous bubbling of the blue glaze lends an aged feel to this mask, which I found satisfyingly appropriate. I created many serious masks and funny faces to hang on random trees in our woods to surprise people when walking through and seeing the trees staring back at them! The faces are also great for hanging on garden walls or fencing.
